Description

The City of Frostburg owns and maintains seven parks and approximately 145 acres of land located within City Limits. Park facilities (https://frostburgcity.synergy.net/explore/parks_and_recreation_directory) include 12 athletic fields, 6 pavilions, 4 playgrounds, a full-size indoor basketball court, 4 outdoor basketball courts, a half-mile walking trail, a rifle/pistol range, two fishing ponds, a 13,050 square foot swimming pool, two special event halls, an amphitheater, a dog park, a bike trail connector to the Great Allegheny Passage (https://gaptrail.org/), and seven concessions buildings. The City’s parks have over 100,000 visitors per year! In addition to the many facilities owned and operated by the Parks and Recreation Department, the department also operates a summer day camp from June to August for children age 12 and under. There are 14 different sports leagues (https://frostburgcity.synergy.net/explore/athletic_leagues_and_programs) encompassing six different sports that operate within the City. The Park and Recreation Department has an elected commissioner, a full-time staff of four employees, a seasonal staff of 32 employees, and a five-member Parks & Recreation Commission that serves as an advisory board.
