Electric Vehicles
In July 2020, Frostburg's first Electric Vehicle charging station was installed in the Parish Hall Parking Lot. This EV station is a Level 2 that can charge an electric vehicle in 4-6 hours (from completely dead to a full charge).
A second charging station was installed in 2022 in the public parking lot under the Frostburg Library, 65 E. Main Street. The Frostburg Library charging station is a fast-charging station, which can provide 80% charge to an electric vehicle in under an hour. Through a grant program administered by Potomac Edison, an EV charger was installed at the public parking lot owned by the Frostburg Library, located at 65 E. Main Street. This site has two DCFC charging stations, each with 1 CHAdeMO and 1 CCS connector. These stations are paired to provide 125kW total between the two units. These stations are owned, operated and maintained by Potomac Edison, and manufactured by ChargePoint. ChargePoint is also a network provider, and they take payment and provide 24/7 driver support via their app. Drivers can download the ChargePoint app for free, create an account and provide payment to charge at Potomac Edison stations. Dining, restrooms, GAP Trail and convenience store are located within 0.5 miles along Main Street.
