The Frostburg Green Team invites the public to attend the ribbon cutting for Phase II of the Frostburg Edible Arboretum on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the Edible Arboretum in Glendening Park, near Lions Field and Lions Pond.

The Frostburg Edible Arboretum is a demonstration garden in Glendening Park showcasing edible plants native to the Mid-Atlantic region. Phase II, funded through Sustainable Maryland, includes new plantings, soil amendments, mulch, and the hiring of a landscape professional to ensure successful establishment.

The event is free and open to the public and will feature brief remarks, the ceremonial ribbon cutting, and guided tours of the new plantings.

“The Edible Arboretum is a unique and valuable addition to the City's diverse parks and recreation offerings. It promotes physical health through its native fruit offerings, environmental health through its array of native trees, bushes, and pollinator plants, and emotional health through its peaceful, verdant surroundings. We hope that it will continue to thrive and serve our community for many years to come,” said Nina Forsythe, Commissioner of Water, Parks, and Recreation for the City of Frostburg.
