What We Do

The Community Development Department oversees all activities relating to planning and zoning, rental housing, and code enforcement.  Community Development staff also provide administrative support to the Historic District Commission, Frostburg Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Frostburg Green Team.

It is the mission of the Community Development Department to facilitate the definition, interpretation and implementation of the community's vision for Frostburg. 

We do this by:

• Administering standards in a balanced, consistent, efficient, professional and timely manner.
• Exchanging information openly, honestly and respectfully.

 Our core goals are to:

• Help the Frostburg community achieve its vision as outlined in the City’s Comprehensive Plan and by the City Council
• Enhance the livability of Frostburg by protecting natural resources and community sustainability while encouraging a healthy economic and business environment
• Provide excellent customer service and build strong partnerships with community organizations, local agencies, and individual community members
• Improve policies and procedures related to development in order to ensure a process that is consistent and objective for individuals and developers alike
