Burning Permits

Property owners must obtain a Burning Permit prior to open air burning of brush or other yard waste materials. This does not include small recreational fires. Burning permits are issued free of charge, but are necessary so that the Frostburg Fire and Police Departments can be notified.

To obtain a City Burning Permit:

  1. Call the Allegany County Health Department's Air Quality Section at (301) 759-5040 to request a burning permit
  2. A postcard will be mailed to you from the Health Department with an expiration date printed on it. This is your county-issued burning permit.
  3. Email a photo/scan of the front and back of the postcard to jklink@frostburgcity.org, or bring a copy of county-issued burning permit to City Hall.
  4. City staff will issue your burning permit and notify the Frostburg Fire and Police Departments that your permit has been issued.
